Steeped in Welsh folk-lore, the parish of Myddfai in Carmarthenshire provides the perfect back-drop for the Sianwood Stud's breeding of Welsh ponies. Established in 1970, originally breeding Welsh part bred riding ponies such as Star Turn, Honeycomb etc. (all Royal Welsh winners and Horse of the Year qualifiers) it today concentrates mainly on breeding Welsh Section Bs. Founded on Downland blood-lines our stock descend from such prolific brood mares as Cennen Galena (Downland Chevalier ex. Coed Coch Nora), a British Mountain and Moorland in hand Champion, and Abercrychan Antonia (Pennwood Eldorado ex. Abercrychan Novella). The following pages provide an insight into the pleasure and privilege we have in being part of the production of our ponies. |
